MTG Club Deck Updates

• Still waiting on missing cards to arrive

  • Josh is looking over the changes and has some things he would like to change (about the changes)

MTG Precon League

• Precon League is a competition in which participants take preconstructed commander decks and upgrade them with a limited budget over the course of multiple rounds.
• Feedback From Last Year
  • Pricing: Perfectly fine
  • Timing: Good start time, games sometimes took very long time
  • Matchmaking: People thought it was generally fair, although the jump between tables was also quite large. Also, 3 pods were at a disadvantage
  • Point System: Point system was generally good, but some of the challenges had very glaring issues.
  • Prizing: Pretty good considering the entry cost, suggestion of something other than packs but recognising that that probably isn't easy to find.
  • Additional Feedback: Challenges should be shown out before precons need to be decided. (This will be less of an issue with the new system)
  • Other Suggestions: Round Robin style event
    • There might be problems with tournament structure given it is not 1v1 format
    • Is also a very long tournament format
• Changes I (Josh) would have made for this event:
  • Pricing: Same $5 would be best I thinks
  • Timing: 6 seemed good for most people, being after work and such
  • Matchmaking: Same as last year, although would probably have additional points for 3 pod tables for balance
  • Point System: Decided beforehand, a lot can stay. Removing challenges based around very specific mechanics (the monarch) or cards (deflecting swat)
  • Prizing: I am open to suggestions of other prizing I just don't think there is any better option
  • Additional Feedback: Yeah we can do that
  • Other Suggestions: This is possible, ill be discussing further with Gibbi wrt to this
  • Non-Feedback Changes: Allowing all precons (something something powerscaling), pre-game presentation to help teach newer players the fundamentals of gameplay and deckbuilding
• The Purpose of running a precon league (other than just having a fun time playing magic) is to help newer players of MTG to learn some of the fundamentals of deck-building

Pokemon TCG

Pokemon Decks

  • Should we move away from club decks being built within the unlimited format, and focus on standard decks > Nene: replace some of the old proxies with new ones for the Pokemon decks

• Event with multiple TCG formats (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Flesh and Blood)
  • Donald is willing to help run Flesh and Blood games

• Round 6 ongoing
  • Heading into exam season so scheduling might get weird
  • right now, second week of finals is around 23/12
• Check the #bb-scoreboard channel to see the standings!
• Check the Blood Bowl Mat Schedule to see if the club's Blood Bowl materials are availabe for league games
• Idea for Blood Bowl Miniature Protection
  • Set of plastic drawers
    • Wouldn't be kept in the box
    • If we get more teams as a club, it would mean we can keep them all in one place.
    • More protective than keeping them in the box as they would be the only things in these draws
  • Nene has some drawers that might work
• Alongside the drawers, suggested to separate the Blood Bowl materials from the teams themselves on the website

• Details (thread in discord for committee to discuss further)
  • Difference between advertisement strategies on different media platforms
    • Discord is immediate, so is good for bumps for events on the day
    • Instagram is not as useful for immediate notification, so lends better towards weekly or monthly round-ups
    • Facebook crossposts don't add any extra effort to the current strategy (other than effectively one button)
• Probably won't do anything until after exams
