Unigames July 2025 Newsletter

Hello everybody and welcome to semester 2! Things have been heating up in Unigames now that everyone is back on campus and we have a lot of events in store for you. Keep in mind the list of upcoming events is non-exhaustive and new events are being announced weekly, so make sure you're keeping an eye on our socials for more info!

With semester 2 beginning we have new exciting things starting like our semester 2 Fresher campaigns, PBtA One-shot Night, and our semester 2 OGM! Find out about these things and much more below. We hope to see you around soon!

Upcoming at Unigames

Pokemon Deckbuilding Workshop - Week 3, Tuesday the 5th of August @ 3pm

Have you been putting off making a new Pokemon deck since the rotation started? Deterred by the fact that it's near impossible to buy cards at the moment? Well look no further than our deckbuilding workshop! Whether you're new to Pokemon or an experienced player you can show up and get help or discuss potential decks to make with other Unigames members! Additionally, we will be planning the new club Pokemon decks at this event, so if you have opinions on what decks we should have in the club room you can show up to have your voice heard.

Pride Week Collab - Week 3, Wednesday the 6th August @ 3pm

To help celebrate Pride Week we are running a collaboration with the UWA Pride Department! Boardgames will be played in Unigames and in the Pride clubroom from 3pm on Wednesday. There's no strict set of games for this event but you can expect games about love like Love Letter and Fog of Love, as well as any boardgame about pride. Luckily every boardgame is about pride as long as you feel proud while playing it.

PbtA One-shot Night - Week 3, Friday the 8th of August @ 5pm

One of our hallmark events for semester 2 is this Friday! Powered by the Apocalypse (or PbtA) is a d6 system known for its simplicity and its use as a framework for many, many derivatives. Some of the systems played on the night will be Moonchild, Spectres and Spurs, and Monster of the Week. Reservations are currently open on our discord but you are more than welcome to show up and join a game on the night too, no experience required!

Age of Sigmar Tournament - Week 4, Sunday the 17th of August @ 8:30am

In a couple of weeks we are going to be running our first Age of Sigmar tournament! Like our usual Warhammer tournaments it will be run in the EZONE in one of the Giumelli Learning Studios. This tourney is a 1k with 3 rounds that are approximately 2 hours each. Tickets are $30 and you can sign up by following this link! OGM - Week 6, Monday the 25th August @ 2pm

With semester 2 having just started, we are due for our semester 2 Ordinary General Meeting. Come along to the Guild Council Room on Monday the 25th of August to get an update on how the club has been going since the beginning of the year! We recommend paying attention to our socials for information on the final agenda and any motions or constitutional amendments we may vote on at the meeting. We hope to see you there!

Fresher Campaigns

Semester 2 Fresher campaigns have just been announced and sign ups are open! If you are new to the club this semester or missed out on a fresher campaign last semester you are eligible to be put into a campaign.

A fresher campaign is a TTRPG adventure run by one of our club's experienced GMs. Freshers will be allocated to a group based on their timetables and preferences, then that group will meet up regularly with said GM to play through a story in the system they're best at. If you are new to RPGs or Unigames as a club this is the perfect opportunity to learn and get involved. If you would like to sign up please follow this link and enter your details! Previous Events

You might be wondering what Unigames has been up to this last little while, so here's a quick summary of what's happened since the start of July!

Blood Bowl Tournament - Sunday the 13th of July @ 9am

Early in July we ran our Blood Bowl Tournament to a smashing (or skull cracking?) success! We were able to use our new neoprene mat for the occasion and hand out a bunch of badges for prizing. Awards included best painted, best sportsmanship, and most casualties. We look forward to running another tournament soon, and we greatly look forward to the upcoming semester 2 Blood Bowl League!

UniSFA RPG Collab - Week 1, Thursday the 24th @ 5pm

Our first collab for the semester was with our sister club UniSFA! For the collaboration Unigames ran fantasy themed one-shots in systems The Witch is Dead and Scum & Villainy, and UniSFA did a trope talk on roleplaying games as a method of storytelling. We look forward to more collaborations in the future!

Re-Fresher Re-Welcome - Week 2, Thursday the 31st of July @ 4pm

Just a few days ago we ran our Re-Fresher Re-Welcome for our semester 2 Freshers! It was a night full of fun with the favourite games being our newly acquired Gubs, Fuego, and old favourite Secret Hitler. Whether you showed up just for the cheap pizza or to play a couple of games we were glad to see everyone there and hope to see everyone a whole lot more in the rest of the semester!

RPGs and Boardgames
