Unigames October Newsletter 2024

We're at the end of October now, and we're up for a semester break filled with juicy tabletop events! Get your spooky robes and some energy drinks ready as we look at some of the events we wrapped up semester 2 with, and have a little look at the upcoming events we have real soon!

These newsletters are releasing MONTHLY, so check your inboxes at the end of each month for an update on where Unigames is at and what’s coming up!

Upcoming at Unigames

Blood on the Clocktower

BOTC is a social deduction game, in which you try and find out who the Demon that is cursing your town is! It runs a little longer than some boardgames, with playtime being around 2 hours per game! It'll be goin down at 1pm on Monday the 11th of November. We'll have 2 games going on (with potentially more after), 1 of which will be aimed at newer players (Trouble Brewing), and the other being aimed at more experienced players (likely Sects and Violets).

To join one of these games, head over to the forum post in ⁠current-events on discord and ask to reserve a spot! We heavily encourage y'all to use the reserve system, as it'll help our storytellers have a better idea of numbers on the day! (Of course, you can still show up on the day, but due to the nature of Blood on the Clocktower, we can't entirely guarantee availability!)

Warhammer Doubles Tournament - Sunday 17/11 @ 8am-6:15pm

After exams is the perfect time to grab a friend, and enter our next Warhammer Doubles Tournament! hosted by Matthew Dean!! Come in to EZONE Learning Studios 1 & 2 on November 17th to either play or spectate a Warhammer doubles tournament! The event will be running from 8:00am - 6:15pm so you'll be able to come spectate at any part of the day if you're interested!

Armies will be 2000 points total, so 1000 points for each team member. As Unigames members, you guys get to sign up early, so make sure to get your tickets early!

Wizard Camp - Friday 22/11-Monday 25/11

Note: Tickets are selling FAST, and we are very quickly running out. Get your tickets while you can!

That's right, we're back, working with our friends over at UniSFA and UCC to bring you another enchanting Joint Camp experience! We'll be heading to Ern Halliday in Hillary's again this year, from Friday, the 22nd of November to Monday, the 25th of November! There, you'll have a grand collection of absolutely sorcerous activities, including but not limited to: Trope Talks! LARP! Virtual Reality Games! Assassins! Debates! LAN Games! And much more!

Tickets are $125 until after Tuesday, the 5th of November, as granted by our early bird deal! After the fact (so from the 6/11 onwards), they'll be $135! Snack vouchers are available with ticket purchase (used to purchase snacks sold by us at the camp, like cans of soft drink, potato chips, chocolates and more). Any tickets purchase must be made at any of our 3 clubrooms, through either cash or bank transfer!

With your ticket, you'll have a bed in one of the 4 dormitory buildings (4 rooms per building, 2 bunk beds/4 mattresses per room), breakfast items available (like cereal and toast), prepared meals at lunch and dinner time, as well as access to toilets and showers throughout your stay!

You might be wondering what Unigames has been up to this last little while, so here's a quick summary of what's happened since June!

Major Events

Relay for Life - Saturday 5/10 12pm - Sunday 6/10 12pm

This year's Relay for Life this year was a blast, and our cominded relay team with UniSFA raised a total of $3908 ! The overnight relay began Saturday 5th of October at 10am, and ran until 10am Sunday!

Blood Bowl for Life - Saturday 12/10 @ 9am

In the style of our Roleplay for Life event, we had our first Blood Bowl for Life!! The event was held on the 12th of october from 9am in EZONE 207.

Participants formed a team and played three games over the day, built from their hard earned cash, and players paid for various buffs throughout the day, with all money raised going directly to our Relay for Life team!

Phoenix

Some of our committee members have been working real hard on our zine known as Phoenix, alonside all those who submitted something to be included. The theme this year is "Revival", so keep an eye out for the zine when it's released. I'd like to especially mention our president Joshua who has been hard at work compiling the entries and making the zine itself.

RPGs and Boardgames

Unigames have held a number of RPG and Boardgame events over the last while. Here’s the list of all of the regular RPG and Boardgame events we have run since the last newsletter:

Wargames

We’ve had a great start to the year for Wargaming, and we are far from finished. Here are some of the events we have run so far: - Non-Games-Workshop Wargaming Event - (9/10)
